Joseph L. Clark is best known for his role as a professor and community organizer at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas. He was a man who set high standards in his history classes, the history department, the Sam Houston Park and Museum, and the many associations to which he belonged. His life was bound together by a series of achievement that caused any who came in contact with him to respect him and the things to which he dedicated his time. His accomplishments were centered in and around the state of Texas. A busy and involved man by nature, Clark also made a habit to show considerable amounts of care and kindness to anyone who approached him for help tracing personal and state history. The following is the story of a man whose impact on Huntsville, Texas, is still seen and felt by its citizens, regardless of whether or not they are aware of his work.
